TechSoup Global Seeks NGO Partner to Serve Sweden

TechSoup Global seeks a partner in Sweden to offer packaged TechSoup programs to qualifying NGOs in Sweden.  TechSoup Global will offer the resources of its TechSoup brand and program to a Swedish NGO who will co-create and offer a version of the TechSoup program, locally branded and available to eligible NGOs in that country.

Overview

As described in the accompanying brochure, TechSoup Global Screenshot 2008, and at http://www.techsoupglobal.org, TechSoup Global provides resources and knowledge to nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) around the globe. We help them choose, implement, and sustain the technological tools they need to best serve their communities. In partnership with corporate donors like Microsoft and Cisco, we address the unmet technology needs of these organizations. Since TechSoup was launched in 2000, we have delivered over $1 billion in potential savings to the NGO sector, averaging approximately $13,000 in savings per organization served. We are providing product donations from 35 major technology providers to NGOs in 19 countries around the world today, and plan to expand to 40 countries by June, 2009. In addition, TechSoup Global has provided ICT information resources to 400,000 organizations in over 190 countries.

TechSoup Global would like to bring the benefits of our product donation program to Sweden in the coming months. Once we launch, Swedish NGOs will receive the following benefits:

  • Very low cost donated technology products from corporate donors like Microsoft and Cisco
  • A fast and easy process to obtain these products
  • Access to knowledge and value-added services that help them use these products and other information and communications technologies effectively


We are seeking a partner in Sweden to assist us in this effort. TechSoup Global’s Partner NGOs receive the following benefits from participation in our program:

  • A significant fee-for-service revenue stream
  • An enhanced service offering to their client NGOs
  • Access to a global network of TechSoup Global Partner NGOs who are all focused on ICT technology and capacity building in the NGO sector


TechSoup Global will offer our technical infrastructure, well-tested program methodology, and well-known TechSoup Global brand to a Swedish NGO which will co-launch and support a Swedish-localized version of the TechSoup Global program for eligible Swedish NGOs.

Overview of the TechSoup Global Program

TechSoup Global provides technical infrastructure, procedures, and expertise to enable a partner to quickly deliver a scaleable, cost-effective TechSoup Global program.  

The Partner NGO is responsible for:

  1. Translating and localizing technology product donation program content for website and collateral
  2. Conducting outreach to identify organizations that could benefit from participation
  3. With the assistance of web-based tools, determining whether organizations meet the eligibility rules for participation in the program and retaining records of their legal statuses
  4. Processing product donation requests, collecting administrative fees
  5. Uploading organization and order data into TechSoup Global’s processing systems, for completion of donation delivery
  6. Providing local NGO capacity building programs, such as customer service, trainings, online advice and community-building activities, to increase the capacity of your NGOs to use their donated products and other ICT technologies effectively

TechSoup Global is responsible for:

  1. Administering relationships with technology providers to ensure a comprehensive catalog of technology product donations
  2. Maintaining a centralized technology platform to support order fulfillment by corporate product donors
  3. Developing and supporting an easy to use and easy to administer ecommerce website for Partner NGOs to offer to their local NGO communities
  4. Providing rich content for the ecommerce website, including the product catalog, articles, reviews and online community
  5. Providing training, support, and account management for Partner NGOs
  6. Facilitating networking and community among the Partner NGOS

Sustainability and Funding

In the U.S., TechSoup Global sustains its work by charging recipients of technology product donations an affordable administrative fee, which averages less than 5% of the retail value of the products.  In the Global program, this administrative fee is shared between TechSoup Global and the Partner NGO to cover ongoing program costs, with the larger share going to the Partner NGO. We have had great success obtaining local, regional and corporate grants, matching funds, and venture philanthropy support to help offset one-time costs of setting up the TechSoup Global program.

Som beskrivet i den medföljande broschyren, TechSoup Screenshot 2007 och på http://www.techsoupglobal.org erbjuder TechSoup Global resurser och kunskap till icke-för-vinst företag och non-governmental organizations (NGOs) i Nordamerika och i övriga världen. Vi hjälper NGOs att välja, använda och bihbehålla de teknologiska verktyg de behöver för att på bästa sätt kunna möta sina medlemmars och klienters behov. Vi addresserar de ofta eftersatta teknologiska behoven hos dessa organisationer i sammarbete med företag och givare som Microsoft, Cisco och Symantec. Sedan TechSoup etablerades år 2000 har vi märkbart stärkt icke-för-vinstsektorn i USA. Sedan lansering av vårt kanadensiska program under 2004 och vårt globala program under 2006 har NGOs i 18 länder världen över kunnat ta del av våra erbjudanden.

TechSoup Global söker nu att inom de närmaste månaderna introducera fördelarna med vårt program i Sverige. När vi lanserat oss kommer svenska NGOs att kunna dra nytta av följande förmåner:
  • Tillgång till tekniska produkter donerade från företag som Microsoft, Cisco och Symantec till mycket låga priser
  • En snabb och enkel process för att erhålla dessa produkter

Vi söker nu en samarbetspartner i Sverige för att hjälpa oss i detta arbete. I utbyte för detta  sammarbetet kan TechSoup Global erbjuda följande förmåner till våra NGO Partners:

TechSoup Global kan erbjuda vår tekniska infrastruktur, en välbeprövad programmetod och ett välkänt namn i TechSoup Global, till en svensk NGO som är intressad av att tillsammans med oss lansera och stödja en lokal, svensk, version av TechSoup Globals program ämnat för berättigade svenska NGOs.

TechSoup Global erbjuder teknologisk infrastruktur, metoder och expertis till en samarbetspartner för att möjliggöra för denna att snabbt sätta upp ett växande och kostnadseffektivt TechSoup Global-program.

En NGO Partner ansvarar för att:   
  1. Översätta och anpassa innehållet på websidan och i övrig information rörande donationsprogrammet för tekniska produkter till lokala förhållanden
  2. Genomföra undersökningar för att identifiera organisationer som skulle kunna dra nytta av att delta i programmet
  3. Med hjälp av webbaserade verktyg avgöra huruvida organisationer möter  behörighetskraven för att kunna delta i programmet, samt bibehålla information om deras jurdiska status.
  4. Behandla ansökningar relaterade till donationer av produkter, uppbära administrationsavgifter
  5. Överföra organisations- och orderinformation till TechSoups Globals datassystem för att fullfölja en donationsleverans
  6. Tillhandahålla lokala kapacitetshöjande program, som kundservice, utbildningar, rådgivning online och community-building aktiviteter, för att öka kapaciteten hos dina NGOs så att de i sin tur kan använda de donerade produkterna och annan ICT-teknologi så effektivt som möjligt.
TechSoup Global ansvarar för att:

  1. Sköta förhållandet med teknologileverantörerna för att garantera ett så mångsidigt utbud av donerade tekniska produkter som möjligt
  2. Upprätthålla en central teknologisk platform för att understödja fullföljandet av företagsdonationer
  3. Utveckla och underhålla en användarvänlig e-handelswebsida för NGO Partners för dem att erbjuda deras lokala NGOs
  4. Erbjuda ett rikt innehåll lämligt för e-handelswebsidan, vilket inkluderar en produktkatalog, artiklar, recensioner och en online community
  5. Erbjuda utblidning, underhåll och kundhantering för NGO Partners
  6. Underlätta skapandet av relationer och kontaktnät mellan NGO Partners

Hållbarhet och finansiering

I USA täcker TechSoup Global sina kostnader genom att debitera en liten administrationsavgift,  vilken i genomsnitt uppgår till mindre än 5% av försäljningspriset för varorna i detaljhandeln. I det globala programmet delas denna administrationsavgift mellan TechSoup Global och NGO Partnern för att täcka pågående programkostnader, med en större del avsatt till NGO Partnern. Vi har varit väldigt lyckosamma i att uppbringa lokala och regionala anslag, företagsanslag, matchande anslag eller venture philanthropy för att uppväga de engångskostnader som är förenade med att starta ett TechSoup Global program.
