TechSoup Global will be the host of NGOsource, an equivalency determination information repository. This service will help U.S.-based grantmakers provide grants to NGOs worldwide. Selected on the basis of our global reach and experience in processing in-kind donations, TechSoup Global and its partners are working together to deliver a streamlined approach for international grantmaking. Check out our comprehensive set of FAQs.

NGOsource is now being considered by and subject to approval by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Call for Letters of Support

The Council on Foundations, with the assistance of Caplin & Drysdale and TechSoup Global, submitted to the U.S. Treasury Department on December 28, 2009, a request for a new Revenue Procedure that would facilitate the launch of NGOsource. The Council submitted an extensive response on March 22, 2010, addressing specific questions posed by Treasury. To date, all discussions with the Treasury Department have been increasingly positive.

In order to move forward quickly with approving the Revenue Procedure, it is critical that Treasury hear from as many philanthropic leaders as possible, voicing their support for the service. The submission of personal letters of support signed by senior management will build on our conversations with Treasury and can make a big difference in both the timing and outcome of the regulatory approval process.

If your organization would like to send a letter of support to the Treasury Department, please contact:

Martin Schneiderman, NGOsource Project Manager for the Council on
Foundations: mbs@iaa.com

Your support is greatly appreciated in this important effort.
