Australia
DonorTec is operated by Connecting Up Australia and was launched in partnership with TechSoup in 2007. Connecting Up Australia has been operating as an NGO in Adelaide, South Australia, since 1981, providing community service and events information to NGOs on a local level, as well as technology information services to NGOs nationally. The TechSoup program was launched in January 2007 and was the pilot country in the region.
The DonorTec program is part of a broader ongoing strategy of providing ICT support to the Australian nonprofit sector - a sector which represents around 4% of Australia’s GDP. This strategy includes operating the Connecting Up conference series (Australia’s only annual national conference on ICT in the nonprofit sector), organising the annual Australian Community ICT Awards, and running an information-rich website www.connectingup.org to serve as a technology resource to non-profits. The DonorTec program also incorporates Tech Soup New Zealand www.techsoup.net.nz , which was launched in July 2008.
