DonorTec Impact | Microsoft helping Australia CARE

CARE Australia is part of a global force dedicated to putting an end to poverty worldwide by providing international emergency relief and development assistance. CARE International’s activities are benefiting over 55 million people in 72 countries.Their work is carried out in some of the poorest regions in the world with projects focused on empowering women, improving the capacity of the local communities and enabling them to sustain development.

With more than 1700 dedicated staff, CARE Australia are currently managing programs in 20 countries, responding to the most urgent needs around the world. They are largely dependent on support from the Australian public to continue their work.Vital support has been given through generous donations made by Microsoft enabling them to so far save upwards of sixty thousand ‘precious dollars’ which go a long way towards helping their cause.

Utilizing Microsoft’s Office Communications Server External Connector License and SharePoint Server (both Enterprise editions) received via the DonorTec program, staff can log into all of the Office applications via internet access. Most importantly this enables collaboration between staff, allowing them to view, comment and provide input on working documents from various locations.

Ray Brown, IT Manager for CARE Australia says “The money saved on software is significant and we’re very grateful and thankful to Microsoft for the software we have received”

“Having more money available to us means we can greatly expand our online presence and our marketing. This means more exposure and more exposure means more donations”
