ReStarting Public Finance through Data Visualization

Romanian activist Elena Calistru talks about her www.banipierduti.ro (Lost Money) project in this interview, sharing her experience as a ReStart-er and how it challenged her data centric approach to transparency and accountability work in Romania.
ReStart-ers are participants in ReStart Challenges encouraging platforms to create more engaged and active citizens who work for local transparency and accountability in government. Elena’s Lost Money www.banipierduti.ro project was one of five winners in last year’s first ReStart Challenge, created by TechSoup Romania working with American Ambassador to Romania Mark Gitenstein.
In 2012, ReStart Challenges are taking place in Romania, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia, with the support of TechSoup Romania, the Central and Eastern European Trust for Civil Society, United States Embassies, Microsoft, and a variety of local donors.
