One of the great imponderables in environmentalism is how to safely process the zillions of discarded mobile phones and computers and other electronic gadgets now flooding developing countries, when those countries don’t have any recycling capacity, and they will overtake the ‘developed world’ in discarded electronics in just five years.

Peace in the Middle East? The news makes me think probably not in my lifetime, but today several of us at TechSoup met with a group of eight people from Israel and the Palestinian Territories as part of a delegation sponsored by the U.S.

It's not our first time advocating for charities and libraries in the hallowed halls of the U.S. Congress, but this time I've created a catch phrase that I hope will capture some hearts and minds of policymakers. I call it "humanitarian electronics recycling and refurbishment." Perhaps I should explain.
